Mallorca Bike Tour: A Journey Through the Island's Hills and Valleys

Introduction: Day 2 of Our Journey

After a successful first day, we were eager to continue our cycling tour through Mallorca with our dynamic group. The mix of cyclists aged 25 to 45 was ready to tackle the challenges of the second day. This day promised even more impressive landscapes and some strenuous climbs that would require both stamina and endurance.

Starting Point: Can Picafort

Our second day began again in Can Picafort, a lively coastal town that welcomed us with its picturesque charm and pleasant sea breeze. After a hearty breakfast, we set off toward Santa Margalida, the first destination of our stage.

Route to Santa Margalida

The ride to Santa Margalida took us along gently rolling roads lined with almond trees and expansive fields. Although the route was mostly flat, it offered beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and allowed us to prepare for the upcoming strenuous part of the journey.

Continuing to Llubí

From Santa Margalida, we continued our ride to Llubí. Known for its honey and fiestas, Llubí had already impressed us the previous day. We decided not to take a longer break, as a challenging route lay ahead.

Through the Hills: Santa Maria del Camí and Bunyola

Our next major stage took us to Santa Maria del Camí and onward to Bunyola. The ascent became noticeably steeper, and the hilly terrain tested our endurance. However, the sight of the picturesque surroundings motivated us to keep going.

Break in Bunyola

In Bunyola, we took a well-deserved break. We enjoyed the opportunity to grab a small refreshment at one of the local cafes and prepare ourselves for the next stretch of the journey.

Through the Orient

The section through the Orient was both scenic and challenging. The winding roads and varied topography tested our physical fitness. But the spectacular views of the valleys and mountains compensated us for the effort.

Continuing through Alaró and Lloseta

After leaving the Orient behind, we passed Alaró and rode through Lloseta. The gentle hills and charming villages along the route made this part of the ride especially enjoyable.

Heading to Binissalem and Selva

Our route led us further to Binissalem and then to Selva. The road wound through vineyards and olive groves, and the tranquility of the rural setting offered us a welcome respite.

Arrival in Campanet

In Campanet, we took another break to refresh ourselves with a cool cola. Visiting the Coves de Campanet would have provided a delightful diversion, but our group chose to focus on continuing the ride.

Return via Sa Pobla to Can Picafort

The final part of our journey took us through Sa Pobla back to Can Picafort. We enjoyed the last few kilometers of the ride, which led us through the island's fertile plains before finally returning to our starting point.

Summary

The second day of our Mallorca bike tour was a fascinating blend of physical challenge and scenic beauty. The hilly route offered an exciting change from the first day and tested our fitness and endurance. The stunning views of the Mallorcan valleys and villages rewarded us for our efforts, making this day an unforgettable experience. We look forward to continuing our exploration of the island on the next day.
